Radical Mosques To Be Closed In Austria

The Austrian police continue to want for possible accomplices and ideological inspirers of the Viennese shooter, reports Euronews TV channel.
Eight people are reported to be in custody. They are suspected of assisting the criminal in preparing the terrorist attack on November 2. Four of them have already been convicted under the articles on terrorism.
On Friday, the authorities ordered the closure of mosques professing radical ideas. Counterintelligence data became one of the reasons for the decision. According to them, Kujtim Fejzulai regularly visited capital’s two mosques. These visits are supposed to have contributed to his radicalization.
Austrian Interior Minister Karl Nehammer also announced the dismissal of the head of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. He is accused of committing incorrect actions after receiving information from foreign special services. So, there were signals from Slovakia about Feyzulai’s attempts to acquire ammunition. Despite this, surveillance has not been established.
It is reported that in a number of German cities in Lower Saxony, Hesse and Schleswig-Holstein, apartments and offices were searched. Four young people live and work there, who, according to the investigation, met with the attacker. Two, presumably — visited him in the summer in Vienna.
A 20-year-old Feyzulai, a North Macedonian, who also had Austrian citizenship, was convicted of attempting to join ISIS in Syria and was released early last year. On Monday he started shooting in the center of Vienna, killing four people, wounding more than 20, and was shot by the police.
